The Alabama football team heads into the 2007 season under head coach Nick Saban with one of the most experienced and deepest receiving groups in the country.
With size, strength, speed, athleticism and the ability to stretch the field, the Crimson Tide's offense has the tools to be explosive with new offensive coordinator Major Applewhite calling the plays.
The group is led by the dynamic duo of seniors DJ Hall and Keith Brown. Last season, the two proved that they should not only be considered among the best in the SEC, but among the best in the country.
Hall was one of the most productive wide receivers in the country last season hauling in 57 catches for 1,014 yards and five touchdowns in just nine games.
His 57 catches in a season ranks third in Alabama football history and his 1,014 yards receiving last season gave him the record for most in a season.
He is third in Alabama football history for career receptions with 122, second in receiving yards with 1,876 and sixth for touchdowns with 11 scoring catches.
Keith Brown had a solid season as well bringing in 43 catches for 583 yards and three touchdowns before being slowed down with leg injuries.
He also ranks among Alabama's best, as Brown is ninth in career receptions with 94 and sixth in career receiving yards with 1,520.
Hall got off to a fast start in 2007 with a busy A-Day Game where he caught five passes for 87 yards and one touchdown.
Brown flashed his skills in the first scrimmage of the year where he caught three receptions for 37 yards and one touchdown.
Senior Matt Caddell also looks to contribute to this year's offense after a productive spring and summer.
Caddell caught a touchdown at the A-Day Game followed by four receptions for 48 yards in the team's first scrimmage and four receptions for 49 yards and one touchdown in the team's second scrimmage.
Junior Nikita Stover looks to use his speed and consistency this fall to help open up the Tide's offense.
Stover caught three receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown in the spring A-Day Game and posted three receptions for 61 yards and one touchdown in the team's first scrimmage.
Junior Will Oakley has been hampered by injuries the last few seasons but his sure hands and overall speed can help stretch the field for the Tide.
Sophomore Mike McCoy saw little action last year, but Saban said he has been impressed with his improvement.
McCoy brought in a 50-yard touchdown pass in the first scrimmage and caught three passes for 29 yards in the A-Day game.
While the receiving bunch is an older one, freshmen Earl Alexander and Marquis Maze posted solid numbers in the scrimmages.
The tight end position has been almost invisible in recent years at Alabama but that could change with a new offensive system and coordinator.
The candidates for the starting job are juniors Nick Walker, Travis McCall and Charles Hoke.
Walker and McCall are the front runners for the starting spot on the team, and Saban said he considered both as starters.
Walker had three receptions for eight yards and a touchdown in the team's second scrimmage while McCall had two receptions for 24 yards.
