CrimsonRide to change schedule during Thanksgiving break
CrimsonRide and Transportation Services will make adjustments to the CrimsonRide schedule during Thanksgiving break. On Nov. 21 and 25, there will be on-demand transportation services offered by 348-RIDE from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. From Nov. 22 to 24, there will be no transportation services offered.
During this time, people can park in any zone or non-restricted parking spaces. Parking in handicapped spaces or on yellow curbs will not be allowed. Regular parking regulations will resume at 7 a.m. on Nov. 26.
Toys for Tots drive runs through Dec. 14
The Library Support Staff Association is sponsoring the fifth Annual Toys for Tots drive. The drive will run through Dec. 14. Collection boxes will be located on the first and second floors of Amelia Gayle Gorgas, Bruno, Hoole, McLure and Rodgers libraries. Informational brochures are located with the boxes.
Only new toys may be donated. Handmade toys must be new. No guns or knives are accepted. Monetary donations may be sent to Toys for Tots, 1001 4th Ave. SW, Bessemer, AL 35022. For more information, please contact Barry Sartain at 348-2106 (bsartain@ua.edu) or Karen Hoss at 348-7023 (klhoss@ua.edu).
Hilaritas concert tickets on sale
The UA School of Music will kick off the holiday season with its annual Hilaritas concerts on Nov. 30 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. in the Concert Hall of the Moody Music Building. Tickets are $12 or $8 for general audience and $6 or $4 for students, children and seniors. Tickets can be purchased online at www.crimsonartstickets.com or by calling the box office at 348-7111. Tickets will also be available at the door starting one hour before each show.
Air Force ROTC to hold clothing drive
The University's Air Force ROTC is collecting donated clothing to support wounded soldiers and civilians overseas. Donations can include unopened bags of underwear, socks, long boot socks and undershirts with no logos or writing.
There will be a box placed at the AFROTC detachment across from Amelia Gayle Gorgas Library for donations to be placed in. Donations will be taken until Thanksgiving, and will then be shipped overseas.
Applications available for UA Premier Awards available
The University of Alabama Premier Awards' applications are available for the 2008 awards. The applications can be found at www.premierawards.ua.edu. Juniors and seniors are eligible to apply. The application deadline is Jan. 16, and forms should be turned in at the dean of students office in the Ferguson Center.
Premier Awards are the five highest honors given by the University each year. The Premier Awards include the William P. Bloom Award, the John Fraser Ramsey Award, the Morris Lehman Mayer Award, the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award and the Catherine J. Randall Award.
