Mayor Walt Maddox reminded Tuscaloosa residents about the 2008 SaveFirst Initiative at the Tuscaloosa City Council meeting Tuesday.
Through a partnership with the University and Tuscaloosa, UA students have been trained to prepare taxes for lower-income working families that qualify.
"This will be a great opportunity for the city and the University to help those who need help the most," Maddox said.
The program will begin Jan. 22 and end Feb. 23.
At the meeting, the City Council also approved a solicitation of bids for a three-wheeled electric mobility vehicle for the Tuscaloosa Police Department.
The council also set Feb. 12 as the day to consider adopting an amendment to the zoning ordinance about off-street parking requirements and residential district regulations.
For townhouse and apartment dwellings in most residential districts, each dwelling must have at least one parking space per bedroom. Single-family or two-family dwellings must have two spaces per dwelling or one space per bedroom depending on the district.
