Last year, I met Kendra Key when we took a class together. We really got to know each other when test time came around and we spent hours studying together.
Since then, Kendra and I have become close friends, working together, laughing together and even arguing together. Kendra is one of the most passionate, motivated people I have ever been around. She commits herself intensely to every project, class, friendship, and cause that she is involved with.
Naturally, when I found out she had decided to seek the office of vice president of External Affairs, I was excited. I knew that if elected, she could be the best VP the Capstone has ever seen.
Kendra has probably done more than any other student on this campus to make recycling a priority and a reality. She and I have also been working to partner the SGA and my sorority in making recycling an active philanthropic goal in this community. She also stuck her neck out to ensure that students' voices were heard on the Strip issue.
In her platform, Kendra is proposing several projects that I know will make this University better. For example, she is proposing improved representation in Montgomery so that our books and tuition can be cheaper, better awareness and promotion of off-campus programs like "Landlords, Leases, and Legalities" and the Off-Campus Association and a recycling program that will make our campus and our community truly environmentally friendly.
I have been around this campus for three years now, and so often I have noticed our concerns go unnoticed. I ask each and every one of you to join me in voting for Kendra Key on Tuesday and Wednesday so that we can have a VP of External Affairs who deeply cares for this student body.
