A team of 12 UA students were awarded third place in the National Student Advertising Competition, sponsored by the American Advertising Federation, in Chattanooga, Tenn., last Friday.

"We were a little disappointed to have placed third, because we worked really hard on the campaign and felt it was a first-place campaign. Nonetheless, we were very proud of the work put in," Lisa Romano, a senior majoring in advertising, said.

Morgan Welch, a junior majoring in advertising, said the team was proud not only of their efforts, but of representing the University well.

"We were very proud; we have worked on this campaign for nine months and it was good to be rewarded for that," she said. "It's good to bring home some recognition to the University of Alabama."

Romano also took top honors, receiving the award for Best Presenter. Though she was excited to win the award, she said none of her accomplishments would have been possible without her team members.

"I was thrilled to win Best Presenter, but it was all really a group effort anyways. I couldn't have won it if it wasn't for the presentation team," Romano said.

Six teams from multiple universities competed in the competition. LSU won top honors and the University of Memphis placed right ahead of the Capstone.
